5 Best Current 6’10” NBA Players

Here are my picks of the five best 6’10” players currently in the NBA (in no particular order):

  • Anthony Davis
  • Paolo Banchero
  • Jaren Jackson Jr.
  • Michael Porter Jr.
  • Domantas Sabonis

Anthony Davis, LA Lakers

Anthony Davis, a.k.a. “The Brow”, has been one of the top power forwards/centers in the league for the last 10 seasons. He is currently in his 12th NBA season and 2nd team (New Orleans Pelicans, LA Lakers).

His combination of size, length, agility, scoring ability and defensive instincts make him a matchup nightmare, and one of the top players of this generation.

The only knock against Davis is that he is injury prone. He has only played an average of 50 games per season over the last 5 years (regular season has 82 games). Despite this, he is still probably the best 6’10 player currently in the league

Some of his NBA achievements include: NBA Champ (2020/Bubble), 8x All-Star, All-Star Game MVP (2017), 4x All-NBA First Team, 4x All-Defensive Team (2x First, 2x Second), 3x Blocks leader, All-Rookie First Team (2013), and member of NBA 75th Anniversary team.

Davis also won an Olympic gold medal at the 2012 London Olympics.

Davis is 30 years old, and should technially still be in the prime of his career. If his body can hold up, then he should live up to his slightly controversial selection as one of the top 75 players of all time.

Paolo Banchero, Orlando Magic

Paolo Banchero is one of the most promising young players in the NBA today, and the star for an up-and-coming Orlando Magic team.

The 21 year old is only in his 2nd NBA season, but has already shown that he can become a dominant player in the league. His size, agility, athleticism and offensive ability give him the tools that should turn him into a perennial All-Star in the coming years.

Paolo won NBA Rookie of the Year last season (2022-2023), and was on All-Rookie First Team.

He is currently averaging around 22ppg, 7rpg, and 4apg.

Jaren Jackson Jr., Memphis Grizzlies

Jaren Jackson Jr., or “JJJ”, is another young star that is best known for his defense and shot blocking abilities.

The 24 year old is currently in his 6th NBA season (2018-present), all with the Memphis Grizzlies.

In his young career, JJJ has already led the league twice in blocks per game (bpg).

Some of his other NBA achievements include: All-Star (2023), Defensive Player of the Year (2023), 2x All-Defensive First Team, and All-Rookie First Team.

The main knock against JJJ is that he is a very poor rebounder for his position (only around 5rpg), and he fouls a lot.

He is still very young, so has plenty of time to improve. If the Grizzlies are going to become contenders, they will need JJJ to get more than 5 rebounds.

Michael Porter Jr., Denver Nuggets

Michael Porter Jr. is a sharpshooting specialist, and one of the most important players for the 2023 champion Denver Nuggets. His height combined with high release make his jumpshot one of the more unblockable shots in the league.

Porter Jr. was one of the most highly touted players coming out of high school and college (projected #1 at some point), but back injury problems caused a slow start to his NBA career. He has already had 3 back surgeries since college.

In his two healthy seasons, he averaged over 18 ppg on around 50% FG percentage. It is clear that Porter Jr. is ultra talented.

Porter is still just 25 years old, and entering his prime. If he can stay healthy, we will certainly see a lot more from him over the new few seasons.

Domantas Sabonis, Sacramento Kings

Domantas Sabonis is one of the most underrated superstars in the league.

The bruising forward/center is not flashy, but is one of the most effective all around players in the NBA. He can do it all — scoring, rebounding, and passing.

He is also super consistent. Sabonis has averaged a double-double (points/rebounds) for the past five straight seasons (19ppg/12rpg).

Sabonis is currently in his 8th NBA season and third team (OKC, Indiana, Sacramento).

Some of his other NBA career achievements include: 3x All-Star, All-NBA Third Team (2023), Rebounding Leader (2023).

Sabonis is currently 27 years old, and entering the prime of his career. The Sacramento Kings are also one of the best young teams in the league. Sabonis and teammate De’Aaron Fox should be one of the best duos in the league over the next few seasons.
