Best Current 6’9″ NBA Players

Here are my picks of the three best 6’9″ players currently in the NBA.

  • LeBron James
  • Bam Adebayo
  • Jarrett Allen

Don’t agree? Let me know in the comments at the bottom of the post.

LeBron James, LA Lakers

LBJ is still throwing down tomahawk jams at near 40 years old.

LeBron James is arguably the greatest NBA player of all time, and easily the greatest player of this current generation.

His ranking is often debated by fans, comparing him to other GOATs Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant (see best 6’6 players).

Wherever you rank LeBron on the all-time great list, you can not argue that he is probably the best pure physical athlete to play in the league.

He is currently 39 years old, in his 21st season (2003-present) and third NBA team (Cleveland, Miami, LA Lakers), but still going strong (averaging around 25ppg, 7rpg, 7apg). No other NBA player has shown this kind of longevity before.

Some of LeBron’s other NBA achievements include: 4x NBA champ, 4x Finals MVP, 4x NBA MVP, 19x All-Star, 3x All-Star Game MVP, 19x All-NBA Team (13x First, 3x Second, 3x Third), 6x All-Defensive (5x First, 1x Second), Rookie of the year (2004), All-Rookie First Team, Scoring Champ (2008), Assists leader (2020), NBA 75th Anniversary Team.

He holds multiple NBA records — the biggest being NBA’s All-Time Scoring Leader (he is also 4th in career assist).

LeBron also has two Olympic gold medals (2008 Beijing, 2012 London), and one bronze (2004 Athens).

LeBron James is currently the oldest player in the NBA, and continues to produce at an elite level. How much longer can he play? Who knows, but we should enjoy it while we still can.

Bam Adebayo, Miami Heat

Bam Adebayo has been one of the best centers, and top defensive players in the league for the past few seasons.

The 26 year old is currently in his 7th NBA season (2017-present), all with the Miami Heat. He has shown steady improvement each year, going from 7ppg and 5.5rpg his rookie year, to over 20ppg and 9rpg last season (2022-2023).

Bam’s other NBA career achievements include: 2x All-Star, 4x All-Defensive Second team.

He also won an Olympic gold medal at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

Bam is entering his prime, and should only continue to be one of the NBA’s top centers for the forseeable future.

Jarrett Allen, Cleveland Cavaliers

Jarrett Allen is only listed at 6’9, but is probably more like 7’0 if you count his hair.

Allen is in his 7th NBA season (2017-present), and second NBA team (Brooklyn Nets, Cleveland Cavaliers). Over the past couple seasons, he has emerged as one of the top defensive players in the league.

Allen has averaged over 1 block per game every season in his NBA career. He made one All-Star game in 2022.

His game slightly regressed last season (2022-2023), after making his first All-Star game the previous season.

Allen should be entering his prime though, so we will see if he can get back to All-Star form over the next few years.
